{Listen to Episode 12 Here}

It’s National Infertility Awareness Week and this episode is packed with encouragement and education about all things infertility. I talk with MCRM Fertility’s Marketing Director about Infertility Awareness Week and the impact of COVID-19 on fertility treatments. I discuss the importance of changing the conversation about infertility including choosing a clinic and doctor, my experiences coping with infertility, and supporting others with words, gift ideas, and pick-me-ups. We are in this together!

TES 10.2 Christine’s Birth Story – Reese

Listen to The Espresso Shot 10.2 Here

Scheduled Cesarean was a much better experience than birth number one. Lit will share a good poop story because everyone loves a good poop story, a few ways to help prepare for life with two, and three things you need to know about that no one shared with her until baby 2! Remember the montra, you are a confident, proud and strong mama. Do what’s best for you and your baby!!! PS Baby Video coming soon!!!

Life with 2 prep:

  • Patience is a virtue
    • We did a slow intro at home. First we brought home Reese for two days to figure out a routine and adjust to being a parent of a newborn again.
    • Brought home Rhett to adjust our schedules and learning how to be a family of four splitting attention between a toddler and newborn.
    • Finally we brought Gunner to meet the baby and adjust to the chaos that ensues.
  • Get everyone involved – delegate and ask for help!
  • Give the older sibling duties to “help out”
  • Gifting

Things I wish I knew:

  • Night sweats – dear God! Tip: set out multiple pajamas and sleep on a beach towel for quick middle of the night clothing changes
  • The let downs for breastfeeding – they don’t always feel great (forceful let downs).
  • The body wrap for post cesarean birth – linked here if hospital doesn’t provide one!

The longest birth in history! Well I may be exaggerating, but after being 10 days over due, wanting the crunchy birth experience, getting induced on a Thursday, and then waiting until Saturday at noon to meet your baby, you could say it was a long one. Also, I kick off the episode with a great motherHOOD story and end with a few things I think people should know about cesarean births. Oh and don’t forget the positivity: you are going to meet your baby soon and you are a confident, proud, and strong mama! That montra will get you through any birth.

Listen to The Espresso Shot: Ep 7 Here

Fertility treatment options and plans are so confusing. We dive into some non-invasive fertility treatments and a few things that may be happening along an infertility journey. No matter where you are, this information can be helpful to know and understand, if not for yourself, but a friend. We close the ep with some inspiration that anyone can take with them to help stay positive and find good in the day no matter what comes your way. Next ep we will discuss packing your hospital bag and down the road a birth episode! (Photo left was Lit back in July 2016 getting my first IUI, while unsuccessful I am glad I documented it a bit.)
